Residents of the KZN South Coast are reaping the benefits of an incredible subtropical climate, where outdoor lifestyles are not just a choice but a way of life – no matter the age. Among those leading the charge are senior citizens who have discovered that mountain biking, or trail biking, is not only a source of fun and community connection but also a gateway to healthy ageing.
With about 40 to 45 kilometres of trails around Renishaw Hills, there’s a diverse assortment of track types sprawled through natural bush. Much of the trail is single-track that provides welcome shade on hot days. The sections vary in length and skill level, making it accessible to all regular cyclists, just at your own pace.
The popular routes include Mamba Alley, Renishaw First Climb, Simo’s Switchbacks, and the newly developing Supertubes trail. This variety keeps riders engaged and excited, providing something fresh for every outing.
