Did you know one of South Africa’s rarest dragonflies has made its home at Renishaw Hills?
The Sable Cruiser, a species not seen in decades, was recently spotted in our gardens – not by scientists, but by a passionate group of Citizen Scientists that includes 44 local nature lovers, many of whom are Renishaw Hills residents. Together, they’ve been recording local biodiversity for years through the global iNaturalist platform.
The sighting speaks largely to the power of citizen scientists and their role in helping scientists collect data.
To think such a rare find has been flitting through our gardens is amazing. We can’t wait to see what gets spotted next!
