Lockdown Level 4-friendly Winter Activities

Winter is here and we’ve got to say, it’s certainly one of our favourite times of the year. For all at Renishaw Hills, the “coldest” season of all is one we always relish in. With more days of sunshine and temperatures hovering around 24 degrees Celsius, it’s no wonder our residents live the holiday all year round. When it comes to spending winter in Scottburgh where we’re situated, the mid-South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal offers a host of COVID-friendly activities for this time of year and of course, level 4 of lockdown. Here are our favourites…

A beach walk

It’s free, it’s scenic and as an added bonus, it’s good for you! With beaches still open, a morning or afternoon stroll is the perfect way to get out and get moving. If you’re brave enough, why not enjoy a swim too? Studies have shown that those who see the sea daily are happier, less stressed and face fewer health complications. Count us in!

An outdoor dining experience at home

Restaurants might be closed but the greatest setting of all happens to be anywhere your loved ones are. An afternoon picnic or even brunch in the garden are two awesome ways to have a wonderful dining experience without the risk. Why not grab a takeaway from one of the local hangouts down the South Coast and enjoy it at home? It’s one way that we can help keep our favourites going strong during this trying time.

A spot of nature photography

At Renishaw Hills, our location means access to some of Mother Nature’s finest specimens. Whether you’re a novice or a pro, there’s no shortage of subjects or inspiration on the South Coast. Gardening

Our gardens really do show off at this time of the year. For our aloes in particular, displays of striking colour really do brighten each and every day. With winters on the South Coast providing a pleasant and comfortable climate, it’s an ideal time to get into the garden and put in some ground work for the rest of the year. Plus, it’s rather therapeutic.
