From 3 to 7 August, hundreds of bowlers travelled to the KZN South Coast for the 65th Scottburgh August Tournament, one of the region’s most anticipated winter sporting events.
Supported by Renishaw Hills and hosted across Scottburgh Bowling Club, AMBC, Widenham Bowling Club, and Sezela Bowling Club, it was a week filled with high-level competition, sunshine, and memorable fellowship
Established in 1959, the tournament featured men’s and ladies’ teams of four competing across eight sessions over five days. To keep every team in the running, organisers introduced an innovative “Decades” format, awarding prizes every 10 positions when divisions were combined!

Men’s Division Champions:
Boom Squad (Empangeni Bowling Club) – Skipped by Piet Bester, with Johnny Stander, Shaun Tidbury, and Lou van Emmines.
Runners up:
Rovers, Eagles (Amanzimtoti), Dizzy Dolphins (Howick), and The Scramblers (Widenham Retirement Village).
Ladies’ Division Champions:
Pretty Flamingos (Amanzimtoti, Umhlali & Widenham) – Skipped by Susan Nel, with Cheryl Mostert, Georgie McKechnie, and Jill Hackland
(Reserve: Ellen Cawker).
Runners up:
Madekoi (The Bell), Buddies (PMB Collegians & Widenham), Haai Schoolers (Pretoria High School Old Boys Club), and Cash (Alexandra Memorial).

We are thrilled to report that construction of the new Renishaw Hills bowling green is complete! Once the grass finishes establishing over the next few months, residents will be able to step out their front door and roll up on their very own estate green.
